Privacy policy

Last updated: October 2026

1. Who is responsible

SoSimple.tools is run by Roberto Teixeira Silva, based in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, who is responsible for how personal data is handled on this site. You can reach him at [email protected].

2. Information we collect

We keep data collection to a minimum. We do not ask you to create an account, and the values you type into our tools are not sent to our servers. Our utilities run client-side, so your calculations are processed locally in your own browser. Some technical data (such as your IP address) is processed by our hosting provider and by advertising or affiliate partners, as explained in the sections below. If you write to us, we receive the information you choose to send.

3. Essential cookies and local storage

We use your browser’s local storage only to remember your choice between dark and light mode and to record your cookie-banner choice, so it does not bother you on every visit. Our own tools do not use analytics or tracking cookies. Cookies from advertising and affiliate partners are described below. You can review or change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer of every page. The choice is stored in this browser (local storage key “sosimple_consent”) for 12 months, after which we ask again, and rejecting is as easy as accepting.

4. Affiliate links and third parties

We participate in affiliate marketing programs, such as the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. Clicking on product recommendation buttons may place a cookie from that third-party merchant on your device to track the referral. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. Some product images are loaded from Amazon's servers, so Amazon receives your IP address when such a page is shown.

5. Advertising and third-party cookies

To keep the site free, we may display ads served by third-party vendors, including Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. Ads are loaded only if you allow Advertising in our cookie banner or in Cookie settings. You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings, at aboutads.info or at youronlinechoices.com, and you can read how Google uses data from partner sites in Google's explanation. Non-personalized ads may still appear.

6. Donations and external links

The site links to Ko-fi so that visitors who want to can leave a voluntary donation. Clicking such a link takes you to Ko-fi, where the payment and your personal data are handled by Ko-fi and the payment provider (PayPal or Stripe) under their own privacy policies; we do not receive your card details. As Ko-fi explains in its help article, the creator can see a supporter's display name, email address and any message, and PayPal or Stripe make some payer details, such as name and email address, available to the account holder. If you donate, we use this information only to record the donation, to reply if you wrote to us and to meet accounting and tax obligations, and we keep it only as long as those rules require. The same applies to any other external link, for example to sources or to Amazon: once you leave this site, the privacy policy of the destination site applies.

7. Hosting and technical data

The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which may process technical data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and protect the site against abuse. Cloudflare acts as a processor for the logs of our site and, in its privacy policy, does not state a fixed retention period for them, so we cannot give one. A few tools load code or AI model files on demand from third-party hosts: the image text extractor (jsDelivr) and the background remover (jsDelivr and Hugging Face). Those hosts can see your IP address and which files were requested, but not what you type or the images and documents you process, which stay in your browser. We do not use this data to identify you. Because Cloudflare, Google and Amazon operate worldwide, data may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. Cloudflare states that it complies with the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK and Swiss extensions and otherwise relies on standard contractual clauses; Google and Amazon describe their safeguards in their own policies.

8. Legal bases, retention and children

Where the GDPR (EU and UK) or the LGPD (Brazil) applies, we rely on your consent for advertising cookies, which you give through the cookie banner and can withdraw at any time with Cookie settings in the footer; on our legitimate interest in delivering the site securely and keeping it free of abuse; and on legal obligations for the accounting records of donations. The values you type into the tools are not stored by us. Retention: your cookie choice is kept in your browser for 12 months; messages sent to [email protected] are deleted no later than 12 months after the last exchange; donation records are kept for as long as accounting and tax rules require; technical logs at Cloudflare are covered in section 7. The site is not directed at children.

9. Your choices and contact

You can delete cookies and local storage at any time in your browser settings. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Brazil, you have rights of access, correction and deletion over any personal data held about you. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority: in Portugal the CNPD, in the United Kingdom the ICO and in Brazil the ANPD. For any privacy question, write to [email protected].

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any change will be posted on this page with a new revision date.
