TCG & RPG Life Counter
Track life totals for up to six players, add counters, follow card HP and roll dice, all in your browser, with big touch targets made for the table
Game Setup
Damage moves in steps of 10. Tap the HP number on any card to change its maximum.
Changing players, starting life or mode starts a new game
How to use this tool
- Pick Life totals or Card HP, the number of players (1–6), and the starting life or HP per card.
- Add extra counters such as Poison, Energy or Experience if your game uses them, and choose Same side or Face-to-face seating.
- Tap the −10, −5, +5 and +10 buttons during play; use Roll for dice, coin or first player, and Undo for mistakes.
- Use Table mode on a phone or tablet laid flat, and keep the screen on while playing.
Worked example
In a two-player game starting at 20, tapping −5 twice within 1.5 seconds records one undo step, so a single Undo restores 20. In Card HP mode damage moves in steps of 10: a 100 HP card that takes three hits is at 70, then 40, then 10, and it is knocked out when HP reaches 0. A d20 roll uses crypto.getRandomValues with rejection sampling, so each face has exactly a 1-in-20 chance. Methodology
Starting life totals follow tabletop conventions: 20 for standard two-player card games, 30 to 40 for multiplayer variants, and any value up to 9,999 for tabletop RPG hit points. In Card HP mode damage moves in steps of 10, the granularity used by damage-counter systems, and a card is knocked out when its remaining HP reaches zero.

Common table slips and how the counter absorbs them
- Changing the setup mid-game. Switching mode, player count, starting life or bench size starts a fresh game and empties Undo. Typing a starting life such as 30 restarts at every valid number, so pick it before the first turn. Seating and extra counters do not restart anything.
- Expecting one Undo per tap. Taps less than 1.5 seconds apart are saved as one step, so two quick −5 taps come back together. Slower hits need one Undo each, and the last 60 steps are kept.
- Holding a ±1 button too long. After a short pause it repeats, and after 16 repeats it jumps by 5 per repeat. Release early, use the ±5 or ±10 buttons, or fix an overshoot with Undo.
- Treating 0 as a floor. Life can drop to −999. Anyone at 0 or below is marked out, the last player left gets the winner banner, and if everyone is out it reads “Everyone is out”. A one-player game never declares a winner.
- Tapping KO · Clear twice or by accident. In Card HP mode it empties the card and gives your opponent a point on the spot. Reset needs a second tap within 3 seconds, and both can be undone. A refresh still wipes the whole game.

Frequently asked questions
How do I use a life counter between two players on one phone? ▼
Choose Face-to-face seating, then tap Table mode. The top player's panel is rotated 180° so each person reads their own total, and the − and + buttons sit on each player's side. Lay the phone flat between you; the screen stays on while you play.
Will I lose my game if I refresh or close the page? ▼
Yes, by design. Nothing is stored on your device or sent to a server, so a refresh starts a new game. Use Table mode, which keeps the screen awake, and the Undo button if you tap by mistake.
Are the dice, coin flip and first-player picker really random? ▼
They use your browser's cryptographic random generator with rejection sampling, which removes the slight bias of the usual random-times-sides shortcut. Each d20 face has exactly a 1-in-20 chance and every seat has the same chance to go first.
Can I use it for tabletop RPG hit points or other card games? ▼
Yes. Set any starting life from 1 to 9,999, show up to four counters per player (poison, energy, experience or one with your own name) and rename each player. Up to six players fit on the screen.
How does Card HP mode track damage? ▼
Each of the two players gets an Active card plus 3, 5 or 8 bench slots. Tap +10 or −10 to move damage in tens, hold the button to repeat, and type a different HP on a card to change its maximum. When remaining HP hits zero the card is marked KO, and clearing it adds a point to your opponent's score.
