How to use this tool

  1. Choose Round grid or Quick tally, the number of players (2–8) and who wins: Highest score or Lowest score.
  2. Optionally set a Target score, a tap step and a turn timer.
  3. In the grid, type each player's score per round; in Quick tally, tap the big −10, −5, +5 and +10 buttons.
  4. Watch the totals, ranks and leader update, use Undo for mistakes, and Download CSV when the game ends.

Worked example

Suppose four players finish with totals of 120, 95, 95 and 80. In Highest score mode the ranks are 1, 2, 2, 4: the two players on 95 share second place and the next rank is skipped, which is standard competition ranking. In Lowest score mode, used for games where points are penalties, the player on 80 leads instead. With a target score of 100, the winner banner appears as soon as any total reaches it, naming whoever leads under the chosen rule. Negative rounds and decimals work, and totals are rounded to two decimals. Edits made within 1.5 seconds count as one undo step.

Methodology

Each player's total is the sum of every filled round in the grid, rounded to two decimals, so decimal scores and negative rounds (penalties) both work. Ranks use standard competition ranking: players with equal totals share a rank and the next rank is skipped (1, 2, 2, 4). In Highest score mode the biggest total leads; in Lowest score mode, used by games where points are penalties, the smallest total leads. With a target score set, the winner banner appears as soon as any total reaches it and names whoever leads under the chosen rule.

Edit anything, undo anything: Every past round is an editable cell, and totals, ranks and the leader update as you type. Edits made within 1.5 seconds are stored as a single undo step, so fixing a typo or reverting a long press takes one tap on Undo. Everything stays in the page; nothing is saved on your device or sent anywhere.
Fair dice and a spreadsheet-ready export: Dice and the first-player pick use crypto.getRandomValues with rejection sampling, so every face and every seat is exactly equally likely. The CSV export is UTF-8 with a BOM and, in languages that write decimal commas, uses semicolons as the separator so spreadsheets put the columns in the right place.

Scorekeeping mistakes the grid is built to catch

  • Forgetting the direction. In a game where points are penalties, leave Who wins? on Highest score and the crown and rank 1 go to the player who is losing. Switch to Lowest score before the first round.
  • Reading the target score as “first to reach it wins”. The banner appears as soon as any total reaches the target, but it names whoever leads under your chosen rule. With Lowest score, the player who hit the target is usually the one who loses.
  • Expecting a single winner when totals tie. Players level at the top get no crown, the banner reads “Tie: …” with their names, and ranks skip a number (1, 1, 3).
  • Typing scores loosely. A blank cell counts as 0, a lone minus sign counts as blank, and both a comma and a point work as the decimal mark. Totals round to two decimals and each cell is capped at ±999,999. On a phone keypad without a minus key, use Switch sign (+/−).
  • Lowering the player count mid-game. The last seats and their scores disappear, though Undo (last 80 steps) brings them back. Quick tally and Round grid keep separate scores, and a page refresh clears both, so Download CSV before you close the tab.

Frequently asked questions

How do I keep score over several rounds and see who is winning? ▼

Choose Round grid, name your players and type each player's points into the row for the current round. Totals sit in the bottom row and update as you type; the leader gets a crown and a green highlight. Tap Add round (or press Enter in the last cell) to start the next row, and tap any earlier cell to correct it.

What if the lowest score wins because points are penalties? ▼

Under Who wins?, pick Lowest score. The crown, the ranks and the winner banner then favor the smallest total. Add a target score (for example 100) and the game is flagged as finished the moment any player reaches it, with the lowest total declared the winner.

I typed a wrong score three rounds ago. Can I fix it? ▼

Yes. Every round stays editable, so tap that cell, type the right value and the totals and ranks recalculate instantly. Undo steps back your last change, and Remove last deletes only the latest round. The ± button flips a score to negative on phones whose number keypad has no minus key.

Will I lose my scores if I refresh, and can I save them? ▼

Scores live only in the open page, by design, so a refresh starts over. Before closing, tap Copy Result to paste a ranked summary into a chat, or Download CSV to take the full round-by-round table into a spreadsheet. Table mode asks the browser to keep the screen awake (where supported) so the phone does not lock mid-game.

When should I use Quick tally instead of the round grid? ▼

Quick tally shows one big panel per player with − and + buttons, ideal when scores change constantly, like a running total on a shared table. Pick a tap step of 1, 2, 5, 10 or 25, hold a button to repeat, and combine Face-to-face seating with Table mode so each player reads their own side. Both modes keep their own scores, so you can switch without losing anything.
